Virgin Hotels Collection has announced the appointment of Joe Margison as Chief Executive Officer.

The appointment follows Joe’s tenure as Interim CEO since October 2025 and comes at a significant moment for the hospitality group as it continues to build momentum across its global portfolio.

Virgin Hotels Collection has a pipeline of landmark developments across key gateway cities and resort destinations.

This includes the recently announced Virgin Hotels Atlanta at Centennial Yards, which will form part of downtown Atlanta’s transformational redevelopment, and Virgin Limited Edition’s forthcoming property in Marrakech. Both are scheduled to open in 2027.

Virgin Hotels Collection brings together two hospitality brands from Virgin Group: Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition.

Virgin Hotels delivers a lifestyle hospitality experience shaped by design, local culture and food and beverage, while Virgin Limited Edition offers one-of-a-kind retreats, private islands and hotels in distinctive destinations.

Together, with 16 properties across the US, the Caribbean, Africa and Europe, the collection offers guest experiences shaped by design, personalised service and a strong sense of place.

Joe Margison said: “Having led the Virgin Hotels Collection team for seven months, I have seen first-hand the strength of this business and the opportunity ahead. Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition are distinct brands united by the same Virgin spirit – brilliant people, service with real warmth and character, and experiences guests remember long after they leave.

“We have a strong foundation and a significant opportunity ahead. I’m excited to lead the business through its next chapter of growth.”

Peter Norris, Chair of Virgin Hotels Collection, said: “Joe’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer reflects the leadership he has shown since stepping into the role. He has brought clarity, confidence and renewed focus to the business while continuing to champion Virgin’s distinctive spirit and experience-led approach to hospitality.

“We are delighted to confirm his permanent appointment and look forward to the next phase of growth under his leadership.”

Joe brings more than 25 years of experience across investment, finance, real estate and branded businesses to the role.

He has been with Virgin Group since 2015 and previously served as Virgin Group’s Chief Commercial Officer.

During his career, he has built expertise across investment, brand-building, commercial growth and creating customer experiences with a clear sense of purpose and differentiation.

His time with Virgin Group has also given him a deep understanding of the Virgin brand, its values and how they come to life for people and customers.

Joe has represented Virgin Group on a number of company and property boards across the travel, leisure and wellness sectors.

Before joining Virgin Group, he was with the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, where he focused on private equity, credit and real estate investments.

He began his career at Ernst & Young and is a Chartered Accountant.

The appointment marks a new chapter for Virgin Hotels Collection as it continues to strengthen its leadership and progress its global growth strategy across lifestyle hotels, retreats and destination-led hospitality.
