ibis budget has announced the opening of ibis budget Barcelona Center, a newly built hotel in the heart of the Poblenou district.

The hotel forms part of 22@ Barcelona, a major urban regeneration project bringing together a technology hub, research centres, universities and new residential spaces.
Positioned as a smart and comfortable base for value-conscious travellers, ibis budget Barcelona Center features 189 guestrooms, with rooms offering either a terrace or private patio.
The hotel has been designed around the brand’s focus on efficiency and functionality, while also offering connecting rooms for groups and families.
A new rooftop pool provides guests with an urban retreat and panoramic views across Barcelona.
The property is the largest ibis budget hotel in Iberia and has been developed in line with the sustainability requirements of the 22@ urban plan.
The scheme integrates energy efficiency, responsible water management and reduced environmental impact.
ibis budget Barcelona Center is located 15 minutes on foot from Bogatell beach and the Olympic Port, and five minutes from Llacuna metro station.
The hotel offers direct public transport connections to Barcelona’s historic city centre and landmarks including Plaza de Cataluña and the Sagrada Familia.
Common areas include a spacious indoor garden and outdoor courtyard, creating a social hub for guests and locals.
The hotel also features an on-site food concept under the Be Smart Food brand, alongside a full buffet breakfast and several areas designed for working or relaxing.
Guests travelling by car have access to private parking equipped with electric vehicle charging stations, while spacious bike parking is available for those who prefer to cycle around the city.
ibis budget Barcelona Center is owned by SIH and AGP Hotels, which will also operate the property as one of Accor’s key hotel partners in Spain and France.
The opening marks another step in Accor’s continued growth in Spain, where the group operates more than 100 hotels across more than 10 brands.
In Barcelona alone, Accor has more than 20 properties across brands including Novotel, Mercure, The Hoxton, SLS, Sofitel and ibis.
Marc Serarols, Senior Vice President Franchise Operations Mediterranean, Accor Premium, Midscale and Economy brands, said: “This exciting addition to our growing portfolio in Spain, not only strengthens our network in one of the most in-demand destinations in southern Europe, but also showcases a project that represents the future of efficient hospitality, where affordable accommodation and best-in-class sustainability credentials come together, which sets a new benchmark for smart and accessible urban hotels.”
Alexandre Guénant, CEO of AGP Hotels, added: “ibis budget Barcelona Center is designed to offer accessible, high-quality accommodation tailored specifically to today’s urban traveller. The addition of a rooftop pool, rooms with terraces, spacious outdoor areas and a dedicated food concept make this hotel a standout ibis budget property in Europe. This important opening in one of the city’s newest and most dynamic neighbourhoods, reflects the strength of our partnership with Accor and our shared vision of delivering efficient and sustainable hospitality.”
The hotel incorporates water reuse systems and rainwater harvesting to optimise water consumption, alongside landscaping with low-consumption, climate-adapted Mediterranean vegetation.
The property will also be connected to the DISTRICLIMA district heating and cooling network and include solar energy, supporting a more efficient energy model.
Innovative waste solutions, including the ENVAC pneumatic system, will help reduce emissions, noise and visual impact in the surrounding area.
The hotel’s focus on water conservation aligns with Accor’s five-year Sustainability Innovation Program, developed in partnership with the non-profit Water Unite, to pilot scalable water efficiency and reuse technologies across its network.
Globally, Accor has committed to a 45% reduction in water withdrawals from 2023 levels, with a particular focus on its 2,200-plus properties in high water-stress regions.
ibis budget, part of Accor’s Super Eco segment, has grown to nearly 600 hotels across more than 20 countries.
The brand is focused on providing travellers with a smart, comfortable and reliable base that allows them to travel further, explore more and spend wisely.
