TATEL, the internationally acclaimed restaurant group, is set to open its doors in St. George’s Bay, Malta, this summer. The landmark launch is brought to the island by Lifestyle Group, Malta’s innovative restaurant group.
Founded in 2014 by global sporting icon Cristiano Ronaldo and Manuel Campos Guallar, and owned by Mabel Hospitality, TATEL represents the essence of the vibrant Spanish lifestyle. Following successful flagships in Madrid, Ibiza, Dubai, and Riyadh, the Malta location will feature the brand’s signature 1920s inspired aesthetic paired with elevated Mediterranean cuisine and a curated daily lineup of live music and entertainment.
Designed by Grace Design Studio, the 182-cover venue blends Art Deco elegance with a contemporary sensibility, creating a refined yet dynamic setting that evolves from day to night. A palette of warm woods, rich textiles, and statement lighting defines the interiors, from the column-lined dining room anchored by a central chandelier to a lounge featuring a DJ booth and a striking bar clad in textured green ceramics. An intimate private dining room offers a more secluded experience, while the waterfront terrace extends the setting outdoors, incorporating natural materials and soft lighting to create a seamless connection to the surrounding coastal landscape.
The culinary vision for TATEL is led by Global Executive Chef Juan Antonio Medina, a prominent figure in the Spanish culinary scene whose background includes training at the legendary elBulli and leading the Michelin-starred A’Barra. The menu will celebrate traditional Spanish recipes reinterpreted with contemporary techniques, featuring signature dishes that have defined the brand globally, including Arroz TATEL – the restaurant’s signature rice dish served with slow-cooked beef ribs – alongside Cinco Jotas 100% Ibérico acorn-fed ham and TATEL’s award-winning cheesecake, Nuestra famosa tarta de queso. This is complemented by a world-class beverage programme, featuring a speakeasy-inspired cocktail list and a wine selection celebrating renowned Spanish producers alongside standout international labels, all served within a refined environment where elevated mixology meets a curated wine cellar.
The arrival of TATEL marks a pivotal moment for St. George’s Bay, an area poised to become Malta’s most sophisticated culinary and social destination. The restaurant will be a cornerstone of Lifestyle Group’s visionary summer development, which introduces seven original and world-class concepts to the island’s north-east coast.
