Liverpool’s Accommodation Business Improvement District (ABID) has announced a new leadership team, appointing Annie Brown, General Manager of The Municipal Hotel, as Chair and Mark Tasker, General Manager of Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre, as Deputy Chair.

The appointments mark a new chapter for the organisation, which represents the city’s hotel and accommodation sector and works to strengthen Liverpool’s visitor economy by increasing overnight stays and weekday occupancy.
Brown succeeds Marcus Magee as Chair, while Tasker takes over the Deputy Chair role from Steven Hesketh. Both outgoing board members played a key role in establishing Liverpool’s Accommodation BID and guiding its development during its formative years.
Brown brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience, having worked across Australia and the UK. Before joining The Municipal Hotel in 2023, she served as the first Chair of Manchester’s Accommodation BID, helping to shape initiatives funded through the city’s overnight visitor charge.
Tasker has more than three decades of hospitality experience and has led several of Liverpool’s best-known hotels. As General Manager of Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre, he has built a strong reputation for operational excellence, commercial performance and delivering high-quality guest experiences.
Liverpool’s Accommodation BID is managed by Liverpool BID Company on behalf of the city’s accommodation providers. Established to boost overnight tourism and weekday hotel occupancy, the organisation entered a significant new phase following the introduction of a £2 overnight visitor levy, approved by the city’s hotel industry in June 2025. The levy is designed to support events, partnerships and destination marketing that encourage more visitors to stay overnight in Liverpool.
Annie Brown said she was excited to lead the next stage of the Accommodation BID’s development, thanking her predecessors for establishing strong foundations and highlighting the opportunity to work with tourism partners across the Liverpool City Region to further strengthen the city’s position as a world-class destination.
Mark Tasker said Liverpool had demonstrated ambition and innovation by becoming the first UK city to establish an operational Accommodation BID and believes there is now an opportunity to build on that success by growing the overnight visitor economy and enhancing the city’s national and international profile.
Bill Addy, Chief Executive of Liverpool BID Company, welcomed the appointments, describing Brown and Tasker as experienced hospitality leaders who understand the importance of partnership working in helping Liverpool’s visitor economy continue to thrive.
