The Central Social Club in Hucknall has officially reopened following a £110,000 investment by Admiral Taverns and long-serving licensee Tom Riley-Smith, transforming the popular community venue while retaining its traditional character.

Located on Watnall Road, the refurbishment has modernised the pub’s interior with new décor, flooring, upholstery and fittings, creating a refreshed environment designed to welcome a broader range of customers while maintaining the venue’s established identity at the heart of the local community.
Externally, the investment includes new signage, a fresh exterior and an upgraded beer garden, providing an inviting outdoor space for customers throughout the summer.
Tom Riley-Smith, who has worked at the Central Social Club for almost 20 years and has been licensee for the past six, is committed to building on the pub’s reputation as a welcoming, family-friendly venue that supports local people and community initiatives.
Commenting on the reopening, Tom said: “We are absolutely delighted to have reopened our doors after the recent refurbishment, and I’m so excited to be welcoming back both new and familiar faces. This pub is a real community hub, and I look forward to continuing to serve locals for many years to come. I’d like to say a massive thank you to my team at the pub and also the team at Admiral Taverns for all their hard work and support along the way.”
Looking ahead, the venue will host a programme of monthly live entertainment, including singers and bands, while continuing to support local fundraising initiatives and community events.
The refurbished drinks offer includes premium draught beers, lagers, ciders and stouts, alongside wines and soft drinks, ensuring a broad choice for customers.
Mark Bromley, Business Development Manager at Admiral Taverns, added: “I’m delighted to see the Central Social Club reopen following a fantastic refurbishment. Tom’s dedication and commitment to the pub have been clear throughout, and it’s fantastic to see his vision for the place come to life. This pub plays an important role in bringing the community together, and I have no doubt that Tom will continue to make it a thriving and welcoming destination for many years to come.”
