Just imagine a chatty bar person able to converse with customers in 41 languages, mix 17 different cocktail recipes and serve them at a rate of two per minute. Farfetched you may think, but, according to TheMessenger in Florida’s West Palm Beach that’s exactly what Robot Cecilia does at Florida International University’s hospitality school.
The media outlet is reporting that the university’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management has introduced a cutting-edge piece of technology called Cecilia, an interactive robot bartender.
Cecilia’s not new either, the robot has been in use at the school as a teaching tool for about two years now, produced and supplied by by Cecilia.ai, a company based in Israel.
Interviews with students at the school seem positive, perhaps unsurprisingly as young people generally are more positive about advances in technology. A segment that should interest most bar operators here in the UK.
Much of the praise seems to be around Cecilia’s conversational skills, the latest version, Cecilia 4.0 will have ChatGPT integrations, doubtless increasing dialogue substantially.
