ROUTD launches AI capability to tackle food logistics issues.
ROUTD has launched new Artificial Intelligence capability into its last-mile food logistics platform, aiming to solve the challenges of failed orders and offer real-time visibility to wholesalers, retailers, caterers and their customers.
Using AI, the company’s cloud-based intelligence system makes the delivery process trackable and auditable, providing businesses with real time data to inform business decisions and manage governance of safety and legal requirements.
The B2B and B2C solution provides clients with visibility of deliveries using an integrated ETA & ETA predictor; the ability to interact with, and monitor the performance of, drivers and deliveries anytime.
The software also enables customers to rate drivers on professionalism, view customer service and completed orders, offer dynamic optimised routes to drivers to save time and fuel; create automated email ETAs to the customer; and form records of the food temperature data at the start and end of a delivery – helping to protect the integrity of businesses.
Last mile delivery is one of the most difficult and expensive aspects of the supply chain, while also being one of the most memorable and important for customers. ROUTD allows the main client to have end-to-end visibility across the supply chain and logistics process.
Approximately, 5% of all delivery orders fail, costing businesses thousands of pounds every year, while last mile costs equate to 53% of the total cost of delivery. Out-of-route miles can account for up to 10% of the total mileage of a delivery fleet.
Last year, ROUTD received major investment from GV Group, a B2B logistics and tech services provider to the foodservice industry.
The company has more than 20 years’ experience in the hospitality sector – delivering more than 24 million food items to a value of £300 million to some of the largest FTSE and FMCG companies globally. It also has a global network, spanning the UK, South America, and Africa.
Founded in London, ROUTD initially developed software for last mile food retailers.
The business has evolved to develop its own independent all-in-one solution after identifying a lack of logistics tech innovation and data-driven software within the food and hospitality sector.
ROUTD technology is used by numerous multi-site clients including Compass Group, Booker, Foodbuy, Ole and Steen, Tesco, Makro and other retailers and caterers.
Tevin Tobun, CEO, ROUTD: “We’re delighted to be launching the AI aspect of ROUTD, which will give customers, drivers and businesses an even better experience and help combat the costly issue of failed deliveries.
“Our innovative tech-based communication tools enable businesses to have complete visibility of orders and real-time communication with drivers and customers, providing up-sale and cross sale opportunities, as well as data to help businesses understand, anticipate and plan for the future.”
