The Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Wendy Smith, and Leader of the Council, David Mellen, hosted a recognition event at the Council House yesterday (18th January 2023) in recognition of the city’s hospitality workers.
Members of Nottingham Hospitality Association (NHA), led by Chair, Richard Johal, were invited to an afternoon tea hosted by The Lord Mayor of Nottingham and Leader of the Council, which was kindly supported by Nottingham BID. The event was an opportunity for the Leader and Lord Mayor to recognise the hard work of those working in the hospitality industry and thank them for their efforts to encourage tourists, guests and visitors, back to the vibrant city centre.
NHA members invited their hospitality stars who have risen to the challenge and exceeded all expectations over the last 12 months. During the event, Lord Mayor, Councillor Wendy Smith said: “As the Lord Mayor of Nottingham it was my honour to welcome members of Nottingham Hospitality Association to the Council House as part of this celebration event, in recognition of all of their hard work over the last year in helping to bring people back to our wonderful city of Nottingham.”
Chair of NHA, Richard Johal, acknowledged there were many thanks to make including the Lord Mayor and Council Leader for hosting the event, together with Nottingham BID for its kind support. He said: “It was great to recognise the important role hospitality plays in creating a vibrant and welcoming city centre. I was delighted in my role as Chair to have the opportunity to thank those in attendance for their commitment to hospitality and helping to welcome back visitors to Nottingham. Their warm welcome and care does not go unnoticed and helps to make visitor experiences so memorable.”
Alex Flint, CEO, Nottingham Business Improvement District said: “We were delighted to celebrate this vital sector, and to have come together to demonstrate our collective commitment to supporting the venues which bring so much to the city, and which add vibrancy and variety, encouraging local trade as well as regional and national visitors.
