Bennett Hay has won a 4-year contract with The National Gallery to provide workplace catering for its 650 employees and contractors.
The contract win follows the recent completion of a purpose-built accommodation hub for National Gallery employees designed to provide modern, flexible workspace that encourage collaborative working practices and quality interactions. The new workplace covers 6-floors and encompasses recreation facilities and sees the new Bennett Hay catering operation as a focal point for employees and Gallery contractors.
The café has been conceived as a contemporary space that encourages casual interactions amongst employees as well as a relaxed environment for meetings. The café will offer hot drinks, grab and go selections, cakes, breakfast, main meals, soups, salads and a range of sandwiches, refreshments, and snacks. A large selection of healthy items including gluten free, vegan, halal, and low-fat choices will also feature. Technology will be at the fore in the café and Bennett Hay will engage with Gallery employees through social media to promote seasonal ingredients, world food days and special events.
The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square was founded in 1842 and houses one of the greatest collections of paintings in the Western European tradition in the world. Artists including Caravaggio, Cézanne, Constable, Goya, Holbein, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Rubens, Titian, and Velázquez feature in the collection.
Charlotte Newton, Business Services Manager at The National Gallery commented: “Bennett Hay grasped our values and vision and we’ve cemented an excellent collaboration for our workplace hospitality. They were innovative in terms of menus and diversity of catering offering, tech savvy and most of all have far reaching sustainability goals and measurement. Everyone at the Gallery is looking forward to the new dedicated workplace and to having a focal point for food, drink, and social interaction.”
Zoë Watts, Business Development Director at Bennett Hay said of the win: “The National Gallery partnership is an exciting new win for us and we are delighted to be working with such a high-profile institution in their iconic building. The new employee accommodation has been beautifully designed and constructed and gives us the opportunity to bring in to play our styling and personable service levels along with food and drinks to a diverse and sophisticated guest. We are very excited to be working with one of the biggest names in the global museum and heritage sector.”
