Burger King UK has announced its first ever 100% meat-free menu at their newly redesigned Leicester Square flagship restaurant between 14th March and 10th April.
With over 15 new items available, including a meat-free menu for kids, the offering showcases the company’s latest meat-free innovation with a view to making the most popular new items available nationally in the future.
The soon to be re-opened restaurant has undergone extensive redesign and transformation work since January.
The meat-free offering is part of Burger King UK’s broader commitment to offer a 50% meat-free menu by 2030.
Alasdair Murdoch, CEO at Burger King UK said: “The launch of our meat-free menu is an exciting campaign that recognises customers’ growing desires for flexitarian and meat-free alternatives. It is a great way to re-launch our flagship restaurant in Leicester Square, which has undergone extensive redesign and transformation work over the last few months, demonstrating our commitment to offering consumers a truly diverse menu for any appetite or occasion.
Our new menu items are incredibly innovative and a testament to Burger King UK’s commitment to achieving our target of a 50% meat-free menu by 2030; and the launch is another positive step in reducing our carbon emissions to further our ambition in becoming a more responsible and sustainable business.”
The roll-out of meat-free options forms an important part of the UK chain’s sustainability charter “Burger King for Good”. In the charter, Burger King UK has committed to ensure 30% of plastic used will come from recycled content, reduce scope 3 emissions from its value chain by 41% per restaurant by 2030, and achieve 100% independently certified sustainable sourcing on key products by 2030 or sooner.
Burger King UK has also committed to ban single-use plastics, and is working towards all packaging being reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025.
To mark the launch, Burger King UK will be donating 10p to Trees for Cities for every Plant-based Whopper or Vegan Royale sold nationally during the first four weeks of opening*.
