The weekend brought several good news items to the fore for hospitality, including ministers advising of the government’s roadmap being on track.
Priti Patel appeared on the Andrew Marr Show yesterday saying that the roadmap is on track, reiterating that the spread of Covid-19 was in line with government expectations. So, reopening ‘fully’ on 21 June remains central to government plans.
Trading figures since the 17 May reopening of indoor hospitality are being widely reported as ‘good’ with consumers keen to come back and enjoy their newfound liberty over a meal and a drink or two.
Also, vaccines continue to be rolled out at ever faster rates, and data from Public Health England showing that the Indian Covid variant B.1.617 is not eluding vaccines.
After concerns surrounding the new variant unsettled the hopes of many, it is looking like things really are on track for the next step back towards normality.
