Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London has a charitable programme entitled FANtastic London, to thank the local community for their care and support after the fire that took place at the hotel on 6 June 2018. During the temporary closure, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park has committed to retain all 600 members of staff until the property’s partial reopening this winter.
Whilst some colleagues are enjoying temporary transfers at sister Mandarin Oriental properties, the remaining 400 colleagues are making the most of the months leading up to the reopening through FANtastic London, which enables them to contribute to neighbouring communities. In total, it is anticipated that over 40,000 working hours will be donated to a variety of London charities who support the city’s vulnerable and less fortunate, as well as local hospitals and the London Fire Brigade.
Commenting on the new initiative, General Manager Amanda Hyndman states: “We received so much support from the community that we wanted to thank everyone that has reached out to us since. Giving away working hours to the city that we love, was a simple way to express our gratitude to all. Our colleagues are loyal, talented and passionate individuals that want to share our expertise but also to show that we care, and that we are even more united than ever before.”
