A new director of operations has been appointed at Bristol’s leading four-star hotel. Melih Yanik has now joined the team at DoubleTree by Hilton, Bristol City Centre on Redcliffe Way where he will oversee the day-to-day operations at the city-centre based venue.
Originally from Turkey, Melih has lived and worked in the UK for over 15 years. This included 13 years in London and more recently time at the Mecure Holland House on Redcliffe Hill. His move to the capital of the West Country followed Melih’s desire to expand his career and ambition to work at a full service venue.
He now hopes his extensive experience will add to the growing reputation of a venue that has now become a key asset for Bristol in terms of tourism and business travellers.
Melih said: “It’s great to be part of a team and venue that has serious ambitions about its future. Over the past few years the hotel has invested a lot in its facilities such as the new conference and meeting space, so I’m looking forward to helping consolidate its position as one of the city’s leading four-star hotels.
“We’ll also be proactive in supporting the Bristol’s ambitions to attract more tourists and business people, while showcasing what a fantastic city it is.”
Melih’s appointment comes at a time when the hotel has enjoyed significant increases in the number of conference bookings and meetings. The AA also gave the venue a score of 80 per cent, placing it as the top four-star hotel in Bristol city.
John Dowling, general manager at the hotel added: “I’d like to welcome Melih and wish him the very best in his new role. Bristol has a big year ahead of it and in general will have its work cut out next year especially as a decision on The Arena still rumbles on!
“It’s vital that the city can accommodate any new visitors and to have a highly respected brand like DoubleTree by Hilton in the city helps cement its position as a great place to visit.”
“We will however look to build upon our success and make sure we keep attracting more people to do business and enjoy their leisure time in the capital of the West Country.”
