Boutique hotel brand Malmaison announces the appointment of Steven Wilmer as General Manager of Malmaison Cheltenham.
In his new role, Steven will be responsible for the successful operation of the hotel’s 61 bedrooms, three event rooms, and the brasserie and bar, as well as overseeing the development of his team.
Steven has been Deputy General Manager at the hotel since December 2016, where he was selected to join this year’s companywide Rising Star programme, which identifies and nurtures the General Managers of the future.
Steven first joined Malmaison Hotel du Vin group in 2014, as Bistro and Events Manager at Hotel du Vin St Andrews, and was quickly promoted to Deputy General Manager at Hotel du Vin Harrogate.
Based in the heart of Cheltenham, the hotel is just around the corner from the serene Montpellier Gardens. Full of style and character, the restaurant boasts a glass conservatory ‘Garden Room’ and a beautiful terrace. Steven’s appointment follows the completion of a full bedroom refurbishment at the hotel, which has seen the introduction of the iconic Malmaison style to one of the brand’s newest locations.
Steven said, “I’m thrilled to be taking on this new challenge. I’ve been at the hotel for over a year now and have enjoyed every minute. We have an incredibly strong team and a brilliant community in Cheltenham – I’m delighted to be working with them in this new role.”
Scott Harper, Chief Operations Officer at Malmaison, commented, “We’re delighted to welcome Steven to his new role. He’s been a real asset to the hotel over the past year and we’re excited to see where he takes it over the coming months.”
