Creators of the world’s first pop-up mall Boxpark have announced its third venture, Boxpark Wembley, following the successes of Shoreditch and Croydon sites in 2010 and 2016 respectively. Whilst continuing to draw from its iconic shipping container roots, Boxpark Wembley will have a completely new and bespoke building design, making it an innovative and exciting landmark in the heart of Wembley Park.
Boxpark Wembley will yet again evolve London’s food and beverage landscape, becoming a unique cultural and dining destination with 29 units held by established and independent food operators. Boxpark Wembley will also be a cultural hub offering a versatile programme of over 200 plus events year round. For more information on Boxpark, visit: https://www.boxpark.co.uk/
Boxpark Wembley will mirror the successful framework of community focused events which take place at Boxpark Shoreditch and Croydon. Boxpark Wembley will work closely with the local community to host a series of live music, events, talks and workshops. This will be bolstered by an expansive 2000 capacity events space plus an intimate and separate 300 capacity venue.
Roger Wade, Founder and CEO, Boxpark, comments:
“I’m delighted to announce the opening of the third Boxpark site, Boxpark Wembley. Boxpark Wembley is located in an iconic location, on Olympic Way in Wembley Park. We look forward to working closely with Quintain, Brent Council and the other venue operators on the site, to develop a world class food, drink and entertainment destination, and possibly the best fan park in the world!”
Gavin Elliott, Chairman, BDP Manchester, said:
“Following on from the award-winning success of Boxpark Croydon, it’s great to ‘get the band back together’ to design another Boxpark with Roger and his team. The Boxpark Wembley scheme is a significant evolution of the F+B model we developed in Croydon, and takes our thinking to a new level. It’s also particularly exciting to be working with both Boxpark and Quintain in such an iconic, world renowned destination – to which we hope to bring our own little bit of urban cool.”
Speaking about the deal, Angus Dodd, Chief Executive of Quintain, (delivering Wembley Park), said:
“We’re pleased to be able to announce that Wembley Park is soon to be home to Boxpark Wembley. We are working hard to ensure that Wembley Park is an exciting place to rent and live in London and this brand new space is another way in which we are demonstrating that. Boxpark Wembley will open up Wembley Park to a whole new audience and we are looking forward to welcoming them, along with those that live and work here already, as we work closely with Boxpark to deliver this new exciting venue for London.”
As well as welcoming over 11 million visitors every year, Wembley Park is also already home to over 6000 people and this number is set to increase dramatically in the coming years as new residents start to occupy the 3,000 homes which will be under construction by the end of the year. Boxpark Wembley will become a defining feature of the £2 billion investment currently underway at Wembley Park.
Boxpark Wembley is set to open in late 2018, and will in the coming months begin the process of letting the units to an array of talented traders from London and across the world. Set out in a bespoke layout on Olympic Way, known to fans the world over as Wembley Way, it will create a brand new public space for those living in, working at and visiting Wembley Park.
