Last week we spoke with Pete Reilly the CEO of Cleaner Products and he informed H&C news that their business development team continues to make huge strides in the hospitality sector so we tried to uncover the secret to their success.
We asked Pete Reilly so what’s new?
It’s very exciting times for my team at Cleaner Products as we continue to attract clients that fit perfectly into our style of operation. Last year we saw a staggering 222.8% rise in sales and 2016 is already becoming another great year in our development. Our core business is high-end hotels and restaurants and we are delighted that we have recently been chosen by more superb brands as a supply partner – The Ledbury in London’s Notting Hill which has two Michelin stars and listed at 14th in the Pellegrino’s 50 best restaurants in the world, the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall and the new luxury five star Lalit Hotel near London Bridge, these clients are major milestone for our brand. We have also been successful in obtaining the supply contract for Deliveroo the new home delivery service that is taking London by storm, we have also reached agreements with some brilliant new restaurants including Adam Handlings -The Frog, Xavier Rousset’s – Blandford Comptoir and Cabotte, David Carters – Smokestak and a superb new Italian concept called Manitoba Tigella on London’s New Oxford Street.
Can you sustain that level of growth in the coming years?
No, our forward plan is to maintain the level of service to our excising clients whilst gradually developing our portfolio of brands, we have invested further into our manufacturing and distribution which has increased our ability for growth, the new business we have achieved also adds to our buying power and this enable us to maintain our competitive edge, but we could not show that level of growth continuously.
What makes Cleaner Products the right choice for the hospitality sector?
Being a family run business our clients like the consistency of dealing with the directors of the company who can implement the improvements required to make their operations run seamlessly, obviously cost is a major factor as well and because we are a manufacturer and deal direct there are no middlemen and this reduces costs. The service element of Cleaner Products is also very unique as we are geared up for fast response and this coupled with our training systems that are far more in-depth than what is available elsewhere and are designed to help our clients reduce and maintain costs, it’s these factors that makes us the right choice.
So where are you now in the development of your brand?
Our forward plan was to achieve a two million pound turnover in our first decade and we are well on our way to achieving that goal, we all know that the first million pound turnover is the toughest in any business and it was very rewarding for my team to pass that benchmark earlier this year, were now eight years into our development and well on the way to achieving our aims, the brand awareness we now have in the marketplace is creating more natural sales and of course our existing clients continue to develop their portfolios which also adds to our growth. We have a very effective business development team and our new business pipeline continues to create new and exciting opportunities, we are in fact starting to become more choosy with the clients we take on as they need to buy into our philosophy, we believe our business model is unique in the marketplace and we will continue to put the finishing touches to our business plan to complete our first decade of development.
Is it too early to comment on what your next decade hopes to achieve?
No certainly not, in fact I have been dusting off my crystal ball and looking to plan our future and one of the major developments we will be making is to become much stronger on a regional basis. I want to be able to offer the same high level of service we provide in London and the South East in all the major towns and cities. I have many friends in the national account arena that would benefit from this development and I have already started to plan the groundwork I would need to have in place along with a new national accounts team. The future is very bright for Cleaner Products and I hope that the next decade will be just as enjoyable and rewarding for our superb client base and us.
