Brigid Simmonds, Chief Executive, British Beer & Pub Association, has commented on the Government’s decision to endorse the recommendation of the Airports Commission and expand Heathrow Airport with a third runway:
“We welcome the clarity the Government’s decision today – to endorse the recommendation of the Airports Commission and expand Heathrow – has provided. This is a step in the right direction to securing the additional airport capacity that Britain so badly needs.
“British beer and pubs are right at the heart of our national tourism offer, which stands to benefit from the additional capacity promised in the announcement today. British beer is world-renowned for tradition and quality, and visiting a pub is third on the list of things to do when tourists come to the UK, with seven out of ten overseas visitors coming to a pub whilst they are here.
“More capacity means more opportunity for tourists to visit Britain, and this decision represents a great chance for our pubs to benefit economically from this announcement.”
