Bōkan, a brand new restaurant, bar and roof terrace will open in Canary Wharf this January.
The 65-cover all-day destination restaurant on the 37th floor will specialise in modern European dishes made from British ingredients, with Head Chef Aurelie Altemaire, former Head Chef at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, at the helm. Signature mains will include line-caught cod with potted Morecambe Bay shrimp butter and winter roots hot pot with grilled Ragstone goat’s cheese crottin. A Bōkan sharing tile of charcuterie and cheese will also feature on the menu alongside desserts of cox apple and walnut crumble with custard and Baked Alaska.
The 110-cover bar will be located on the 38th floor, stocking spirits from London-based small batch distillers to create unique cocktails. Bar snacks such as house made crisps and Biltong will be served alongside burgers, sandwiches and artisan pizza.
Designed by Mystery, Bōkan – which means lighthouse – will feature urban-industrial interiors, inspired by the nearby Docklands with rusted copper metalwork, speckled panelling and exposed wooden floors. Leather and fabric-backed chairs are complemented by large corner sofas on the terrace.
Inge Van Ooteghem, Senior Vice President for Upscale and Midscale at AccorHotels UK & Ireland, comments: “We are delighted to announce the launch of Bōkan. With a stellar restaurant and bar team situated in a prime London location, Bōkan is set to become a destination restaurant, bar and terrace with stunning views of the capital.”
Owned by Accor Hotels, Novotel Canary Wharf is the 34th hotel in the group’s portfolio and will have 313 bedrooms, including 26 suites, nine event spaces, plus a state-of-the-art gym and swimming pool.
