The Hour Glass pub in South Kensington is thrilled to announce the appointment of its new Head Chef, Robert Homer.
Having spent the last 15 years under mentor Andrew Turner, Robert is now ready to manage his own brigade at The Hour Glass. Having worked in some of London’s biggest industry names, The Lansdowne private members club, Bentley’s Seafood and Oyster Bar, The Landau and The Domino Restaurant at Hotel Café Royal, he is perfectly equipped to work within one of South West London’s top pubs in one of the Capital’s smartest boroughs.
The food philosophy at The Hour Glass is intrinsically linked to owners Luke and Dave’s beliefs that the menu should be all about – “the best tasting ingredients, left alone!” The menu has always been born of the seasons, created using only the best ingredients available and the same superb, artisan producers that supply Brompton Food Market – just around the corner from the pub.
Robert has already come up with some great ideas for the menus including a more traditional “pub grub” menu for the downstairs area consisting of tasty snacks such as Chorizo Sausage Rolls and classic lunch dishes like The Hour Glass Ploughman’s, Fish and Chips and a Classic Caesar Salad with a choice of Chicken or Prawn.
Upstairs, the menu remaining simple, wholesome and delicious and suited to those wanting more of a restaurant experience, will include starters such as Ox Cheek Croquette with Pickled Vegetables, Whole Roast Poussin with Pea and Broadbean Fricassee for main and a must-try Caramelised Apple Brioche with Cinnamon Ice Cream for dessert.
Luke Mackay – co-owner of The Hour Glass comments on the appointment;
“We are absolutely delighted to have Robert on board and are very excited to work with him on finalising the new menus for the pub. As soon as he cooked for us we knew we had to snap him up – his food speaks volumes and is the perfect fit for The Hour Glass– simple pub food done very, very well…”
