Bel-Air, the home of feel good fast food in Shoreditch, have got breakfast and British Sandwich Week wrapped up in one with their new range of Cali Toast. Each of Bel-Air’s five new open Toasts is made using quality seasonal ingredients for a lighter sandwich that will bring sunshine to your morning.
The Great British culinary invention will be getting a West-Coast makeover – topless breakfast sandwiches will be made with amaranth seed and quinoa rye bread and topped with a choice of, Green Eggs & Ham, green verbena harissa, ham hock and boiled egg; Avocado Dukkah, viola flower, Bel-Air’s signature dukkah spice mix and lambs lettuce. If you want to retain a modicum of Britishness go for the Smoked Salmon with dill and cream cheese, or, for an all out LA experience the Banana and Peanut Butter with flaked coconut and bee pollen.
Founder and entrepreneur, Andrew Bredon, has spent a lifetime chasing the sun and surf in Australia, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Caribbean and California. After a stint of living in LA and desperate to bring back some of that Californian sunshine to another London winter, the idea for Bel-Air was born – a way to brighten London’s fast food scene, and bring a slice of healthy LA living back home.
Open for breakfast and lunch, Bel-Air is all about sunshine. The menu takes its inspiration from California – light, healthy dishes packed with flavour whilst using only the best, natural ingredients and fresh produce, focusing also on being low in salt, low carb and free of refined sugar.
‘Sandwiches are practically a food group in the UK. Here at Bel-Air we wanted to find a way to lighten them up and give people a taste of the LA Life, whilst respecting the need for something satisfying to start your day. Our Cali Toast will take you from the streets of East London to the Beaches of the West Coast, and have you back in time for that meeting with HR’ says Bel-Air founder, Andrew Bredon.
British Sandwich Week will run from the 8th to the 14th of May 2016
