The Duke of York KG, was guest of honour at the Renaissance London Heathrow yesterday to celebrate the re-launch of the landmark airport hotel following a complete renovation.
His Royal Highness joined Surinder Arora, Founder and Chairman of the Arora Group which operates the hotel, in a ceremony attended by local partners, businesses, stakeholders, clients and guests.
The event, held in the hotel’s remodelled lobby, incorporated the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by The Duke to mark the official re launch followed by a private tour of the new luxury hotel.
Completed in December last year, the £20 million refurbishment encompassed all areas of the hotel including upgrading its 3,000sqm conference and events space, reconfiguring the public areas to introduce a new restaurant, bar and lobby lounge and adding 61 new stylish guestrooms bringing the total count of bedrooms and suites to 710.
Speaking at the event, Surinder Arora, commented, “I am honoured to be joined by The Duke of York, our team, partners and our special guests here today to mark the official re-launch of this impressive hotel after such an extensive transformation. The hotel and I have a unique relationship from my time as a waiter in the bar during the 1970’s, so to be standing here cutting the ribbon more than 40 years later, remembering those days fondly, is very special.”
Stephen Clayton, General Manager of Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel added, “I am proud to be part of this landmark event today and lead a team fully committed to delivering a first class hotel experience that unequivocally reflects the extensive investment in the property.”
