Punch Taverns’ roadshows have once again proved to be a great success, with a huge 64% of its pubs attending the nationwide events…plus an appearance from rock legends Status Quo!
An incredible 2,331 Punch licensees attended the events, which gave them the opportunity to be part of a £5 million giveaway, during the most successful roadshow season in their 11 year history.
H&C News was pleased to visit the Wembley event and shared the view of licensees attending: the services, advice and support on offer was truly impressive, as were the many special offers available to the licensees attending. Some struggled to carry their ‘purchases’ back to their vehicles, such were the opportunities available that they grasped! The 36% of pubs who failed to visit a roadshow must have had very strong reasons to miss out on the advice, support and strong offers available.
The roadshow tour ran from 30 September to 30 October across ten venues in the UK, including Durham’s Rainton Meadows Arena and the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh, who both hosted events for the first time.
Guest appearance by Status Quo
The season closed at Wembley and was attended by 260 licensees, 28 prospective licensees as well as rock legends Status Quo (pictured above!), who made an appearance to promote their own real ale ‘Piledriver’ (named after their 1972 classic album with the same name).
Value delivered to and seen by licensees
Punch’s External Affairs and Central Operations Director, Andy Slee said: “In many ways the roadshows are a barometer for our improving relationship with our licensees. To have over 64% of pubs attending reflects the hard work that goes into them and more importantly the value that our licensees believe they deliver.”
The shows also featured 135 industry-leading suppliers, who offered a huge range of food and drink products including a number of Punch specific deals and support services that were only available on the day.
Best in the industry
Visitors were given the chance to meet members of the Punch Taverns team and Operating Board, with each Punch licensee receiving a voucher booklet allowing them to redeem a range of offers, from free glassware and products to free bar staff training support.
One licensee who attended the Wembley roadshow was Sue Carpenter, who runs the General Elliot in Uxbridge. She was delighted with the support offered on the day and advises other licensees to attend next year: “I had a really good day at the roadshow, everyone was so friendly and helpful,” she said.
“It is really useful having everything under one roof and it’s great to be able to sample a range of new drink and food products and services. I have ordered a new coffee machine and introduced a number of new products. I’d definitely recommend other licensees to attend the future events.”
Punch Taverns’ Commercial Director, John Healy added: “The Punch Roadshows are the best in the industry and are a great opportunity to showcase industry leading suppliers and their offers, in addition to demonstrating the depth and range of support that Punch offers to its licensees.”
