Top chefs from all over the world are coming to Luxembourg.
Every four years, Luxembourg takes centre stage in the world of gastronomy. The Expogast trade fair (22th – 26th November) is the meeting place for more than 2,000 chefs and pastry chefs from all over the world, who gather to showcase their culinary creations at the highest level and compete for the Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup.
Villeroy & Boch has supported the competition for many years and is lending its name to the event for the second time as the main sponsor. In all kitchens and disciplines, the cooking teams will be serving up their creations on the new professional Affinity plates. Nicolas Luc Villeroy, Head of the Tableware Division and member of the Management Board, comments: “We are always delighted to be involved in the Culinary World Cup. It is the biggest culinary event in Luxembourg, a country that is also home to the headquarters of our international Hotel & Restaurant Division. With its very demanding standards in relation to quality, know-how, creativity and innovation, the Culinary World Cup upholds the same values that our brand has embraced from the very beginning.”
The organisation committee selected the 29cm plate from Villeroy & Boch’s Affinity hotel line for this year’s event. Following successful appearances showcasing creations at the WorldSkills cookery competition in Leipzig and at frequent Bocuse d’Or contests all over the world, the Affinity plates are once again stepping into the spotlight.
Winners of the first, second and third places in the Villeroy & Boch Culinary Word Cup will also be presented with a special Affinity winners plate in an exclusive design. As a souvenir of the Villeroy & Boch “Cup”, all participants will receive a special edition of the Affinity series cup. “The Culinary Word Cup is an ideal opportunity for us to present our successful Affinity line to customers and top chefs from all over the world. Developed to meet the specific needs and wishes of the modern catering sector, the Affinity is at home on every continent and in every kitchen,” commented Burkhard Schmidt, Director of Villeroy & Boch’s Hotel & Restaurant Division.
The first ever Culinary World Cup took place in 1972. Villeroy & Boch’s Hotel & Restaurant Division has had a close relationship with the event and its organisers from the very start and supports the competition as a partner. The Culinary World Cup was created by the Vatel Club Luxembourg, the Grand-Duchy’s association of professional chefs. This year, more than 2,000 chefs and pastry chefs from more than 100 teams will be taking part in different categories of the competition.
