To celebrate the arrival of Spring, PizzaExpress has launched a new menu which boasts classic Italian style and fashionable flavours, as well as a wider range of its low-calorie Leggera dishes which contain fewer than 500 calories. The new menu is available from 1 April 2014.
Rebecca Farrer, Brand Director at PizzaExpress said, “We’re constantly looking at food trends and have a fantastic collection of dishes this summer to suit all tastes. Variety is really important to our guests, whether they are counting calories, unable to eat gluten or simply want to try some fresh flavours.”
Gluten-free options
There are 10 new dishes including four new gluten-free options and a cheese-free pizza that is suitable for vegans.

Starters
NEW Leggera Panzanella V VE
This classic Tuscan dish is just 217 calories and takes its cue for the Mediterranean approach to health. Full of fresh ingredients – Santos and vine tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, surfine capers, basil and garlic – bread croutons are mixed into the dish with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Risotto Fresco GF
Fresh and light, this creamy white wine risotto contains delicious oak-roasted peppered salmon fillet with garlic and parsley. It’s topped with rocket, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and served with a wedge of lemon.
Salads
Leggera Salmon Salad GF
Following on from the huge success of its Leggera Salmon Superfruit Salad, which launched as a special last September, this fresh and filling take on the vibrant dish contains just 444 calories. It boasts mouth-watering salmon with a cracked black pepper crust, roasted yellow and red peppers, sweet baby onions, cucumber, avocado, rocket and seasonal mixed lives with mint, and it’s finished with chopped parsley and fresh lemon juice.
Pizzas
Leggera Sloppy Giuseppe
The latest edition to PizzaExpress’ Leggera range of skinny pizzas, which are all under 500 calories, is the Sloppy Giuseppe – meaning fans of this hugely popular pizza can enjoy their favourite toppings for just 450. Hot spiced beef, green peppers, red onion, tomato and light mozzarella top this truly delicious pizza.
Pollo Forza Romana
This fiery pizza is an eruption of colour and flavour thanks to an impactful combination of fresh ingredients. It’s topped with tomato, chicken marinated with smoky chilli powder, roasted red and yellow peppers, roquito peppers, mozzarella, chilli flakes, grated Gran Moravia, parsley, chilli oil (for even more heat) and is served on a passata base.
Emilia Romana V
The ultimate pizza for mushroom fans, the Emilia is made with a generous serving of garlic- baked chestnut and closed cup mushrooms on a goat’s cheese and mozzarella base. It’s finished with rocket, fresh lemon and black truffle oil, which gives its addictive flavour.
Pianta Classic V VE
Fresh and earthy, the Pianta contains spinach, chestnut mushrooms, pine kernels and artichokes all on a spicy Arrabbiata base. It’s cheese free so this is the first PizzaExpress pizza that has been created specifically to be suitable for vegans.
Desserts
Leggera Sorbet GF V (full size); coffee (Dolcetti)
Diet friendly desserts are a calorie-counter’s dream so, in addition to its fat free raspberry sorbet, PizzaExpress is introducing a zesty, light and refreshing Lemon Sorbet, which is perfect for summer. It’s finished with mint and a dark chocolate straw it comes as a full size dessert (167 calories) or as Dolcetti (84 calories) – PizzaExpress’ range of mini desserts served with coffee.
Summer Pudding
A classic, fruity dessert with sweet red berries this dish is an ideal way to finish a meal on a warm evening. It’s served with a fruit coulis, mascarpone and a sprig of fresh mint.
Panna Cotta GF
Another classic dessert for the Spring and Summer months is this creamy vanilla bean Panna Cotta served with fresh strawberry and mint.
