Throughout November and December 2011, Lancaster London added a discretionary £1 to every guest’s invoice in a bid to encourage donations to the worthy cause. The simple and cost-free fundraising campaign captured the imagination of guests at Lancaster London, with more than 40 per cent agreeing to make the £1 donation.
Thanks to Deutsche Bank’s generous sponsorship of the campaign, every penny of the £1 donation will go directly to the homeless charity which provides everything from warm showers and hot meals, to shoes for job interviews.
Stephen Kyjak-Lane, General Manager at Lancaster London, said: “We are always keen to support those less fortunate than ourselves and our guests have been equally enthusiastic and incredibly generous. A £1 donation from each guest is a small amount to give, but combined it can make a real difference to the lives of others.”
Jennie Blouet who runs the SleepSmart campaign for London said: “We are thrilled that the Lancaster London has supported SleepSmart. It is such a simple idea, but it has resulted in a huge amount of money that will make a very big difference to the lives of vulnerable and young homeless people.”
The deluxe Lancaster London, renowned for its panoramic views over Hyde Park, takes CSR very seriously and this is the second year it has raised money for SleepSmart. It has also been recognised for its exemplary dedication to environmentally friendly policies by winning the title AA Eco Hotel of the Year 2011-2012. The hotel boasts two fantastic restaurants, Island Grill and Nipa Thai Restaurant, and is one of Europe’s largest banqueting venues, capable of catering for up to 3,000 people.
