Last year we saw many new London hotels open, mostly in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games. This year we can see even more, many of which are significant in one or more ways.
The openings scheduled this year include the reinvention of the venerable Cafe Royal, a London hotel with more history than most as it was here that Oscar Wilde infamously hallucinated on absinthe and courted Lord Alfred Douglas.
The Bulgari in Knightsbridge due to open in April was designed by fashionable Italian architect Antonio Citterio and on the theme of high profile architects Sir Norman Foster is working on the Me by Melia on The Strand.
