Football fuels growth of Amber Taverns

November 28, 2011

Based in Blackpool, Amber Taverns might be described as an old-fashioned pub company: not for them the pursuit of food instead of drink sales. Their focus is on buying and running pubs that serve good quality drinks, competitively priced, in agreeable surroundings, and supported by all the sport that customers could want!

Their quoted ambition is:

“To provide the best pub experience in our area with old fashioned standards of service and quality, selling well known brands at realistic prices and featuring the best of sport on the latest audio visual equipment.”

Each pub has a full Sky Sports and ESPN subscription and shows all the live Premiership, Championship, UEFA Champions League and Europa League games as well as many international fixtures. Plus, of course, all the other sports coverage available.

The result is a successful business that can now expand: its present 65 pubs will soon be increasing towards 100, supported by a newly agreed credit facility from Lloyds Bank and LGV Capital, the majority shareholder.

But first, Amber Pubs will have to identify pubs that meet its demanding criteria in the North, Wales and Midlands areas in which it operates. No doubt suggestions will be welcome!
