Shake up a dash of the best British spirit with a daringly different hotel chain and the result is an incredibly courageous cocktail menu: Chase Vodka, the world’s best, is now mixing in with the characterful Malmaison hotels to produce cocktails of distinction.
Williams Chase Distillery in Herefordshire is renowned for its traditionally made potato vodka, recently adjudged the best in the world, and Malmaison hotels decided it would be a “match made in heaven” to combine the expertise of their resident mixologists with Chase’s fine artisan vodka and gin.
“The Malmaison mixologists have come up with an exclusive list of ten very impressive ‘British-inspired’ cocktails, using special infusions of our vodka – like Bovril, Earl Grey and rhubarb,” said William Chase, founder of the Chase Distillery.
“It’s all a great deal of fun, and seeing as summer-time is cocktail time we’re sure these creations will be a big hit,” he said.
Delectably different, the Chase-based cocktails have names like The Toffee Shop, Vesper Martini and Cherry Bakewell Tart, and can be sipped with relish in Mal bars from Glasgow to Reading.
What has pleased Mr Chase even more though is that Malmaison has decided to share their cocktail recipes online, so even those who can’t make it to a Mal Bar can enter into the spirit of things and make their own at home.
You’ll even find instructional videos on You Tube and on the Mailmaison website blog (http://blog.malmaison.com). The creators of these cocktails have all stressed that Chase potato vodka and/or gin is a vital ingredient – the recipes just don’t work with run-of-the-mill grain based spirits. The other ingredients are easy to obtain, ranging from strawberry jam and cream to cherry brandy and vanilla essence.
