RECENT EDUCATION PROJECTS
CEDA is the professional association made up of more than 80 independent member companies which help customers choose everything from economy or silver teaspoons, a new gas or electric fryer, combination ovens and cooking ranges, to a complete kitchen, including design, equipment selection and sourcing, installation, commissioning, staff training, after sales service and maintenance.
Here is a selection of projects recently completed for the education sector. Find your local CEDA member via: www.ceda.co.uk
Shebbear College – Devon
The client brief was to design and install a new kitchen to replace an existing facility that had served the school well for many years. Due to the college being home to a very busy summer school, the project had to be completed in a window of 6 days! The very limited timescale coupled with the many unknown problems that would be incurred in stripping out an old building made this a huge task for CEDA member Aspen Design.
Reading School Tuck Shop
CEDA member Carford Group designed a new back of house operation to prepare and cook food and a new front counter. They had to bring the building up to modern standards for health and safety including ventilation, floors and removing a damp problem.
Ashford Park Primary School
CEDA member JDS designed and installed a new kitchen, supplying a complete turnkey package including new wall finishes, flooring, lighting, ventilation, services and gas interlock system within a tight budget whilst delivering effective equipment performance.
Oakham School – Rutland
The sheer volume of meals (20,000 per week) made this a big project in a very tight timescale. CEDA member Whitco Catering and Bakery Equipment replaced the equipment, streamlining the central island suite and creating a new servery, all of which had to be done in two phases while still serving boarders.
Kendal College – South Lakes
A lecture theatre style kitchen that had to double as Staff/Student Café, a 20-seater private dining room and a cinema! And it had to have the style of a “trendy batchelor pad” using a mixture of top end domestic equipment as well as commercial. Designed and installed by CEDA member Vision Commercial Kitchens.
Rugby High School
The design of a new catering facility in an old building to improve menu choice with healthy food had to be completed in the 6 week summer holiday which left only two weeks for CEDA member Whitco Catering and Bakery Equipment to install the equipment.
The Hub at Glasgow University
The first requirement from CEDA member Catering Design Group was to produce a feasibility study reducing the catering space requirements from 4500 to 1700 square metres, generating major savings in energy. CDG then designed/installed the new facility incorporating energy efficient equipment.
