William Grant & Sons brand, Sailor Jerry, has celebrated a second year of its epic road trip, burnin’ engines across the UK on The Ride. The iconic American brand took the road by storm, kicking off on Saturday 2nd July with a crew of legendary riders, who went head to head to win a customised Harley-Davidson Street Bob and an awesome trip to Norman Collins’ spiritual home, Hawaii.
This year’s teams, hailing from across Great Britain, included Hackney Wick’s finest bike specialists, Kingdom of Kicks, Welsh hot rod masters, FTH and 2015’s returning challengers, The Originals. The convoy of bad-ass bikers customised their own Sailor Jerry tailor-made Harley Davidson to take out on the road with them. The winning team, The Originals, took the top spot after competing in a series of hellraising challenges; from shark eating to tattooing and indoor skydiving to waxing, the bikers were pushed to their limit in a bid to be crowned champions of The Ride 2016. The riders were welcomed home with a mini festival in Hertfordshire on Saturday 9th July, waiting at the finish line was Frank Carter, operating with Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes.
Following on from The Ride, Sailor Jerry is now running an online cocktail competition with the bartenders, challenging them to create a Sailor Jerry serve inspired by one of the teams. Video clips are online now at facebook.com/groups/TheRideSJUK, encouraging bartenders to post their creations to enter. UK Ambassador, EmmaLi Stenhouse, will narrow down the entries to five finalists per team and it’s up to the individual teams to choose their ultimate serve. The successful winners will all be presented with a money can’t buy, Limited Edition Sailor Jerry bar roll, complete with branded kit and a case of Sailor Jerry. All entries must be uploaded by midnight on the 14th September 2016.
EmmaLi Stenhouse, UK Brand Ambassador for Sailor Jerry commented, “The Ride was such a blast last year, we decided to bring it back with a bang. The teams killed it on their adventures on the UK’s ultimate road trip, travelling more than 1,800 miles combined. This year we’re extending The Ride even further, opening up the competition to bartenders – I can’t wait to see the kickass serves they create!”
