Anyone for a £110 cheese sandwich..?
If you occasionally think that the sandwich you are picking up is a bit pricey, then just imagine how you might feel if asked to pay £110 for one, yes you read correctly £110.
What exactly would you get for £110..?
Well, for that you get cheddar intermingled with white truffles along with other ingredients including…balsamic vinegar over a hundred years old and sourdough bread sprinkled with gold dust.
Michelin-starred chef Martin Blunos is the creator of this sandwich and was the main attraction at the Frome Cheese Show in Somerset. Martin, star of BBC 2’s Food Poker, was at the Frome show judging a sandwich making competition.
He created the £110 sandwich with cheese makers from the West Country producer, Pilgrims Choice to create the white truffle sensation giving the snack its brawny price.
Other elements in the sandwich include…extra virgin olive oil, slices of quails egg, black tomato, epicure apple and fresh figs. Mustard red frills, pea shoots and red amaranth are the basis of the salad layer.
Blunos and Pilgrim’s have registered the sandwich with Guinness World Records to attempt for the sandwich to be recognised as the most expensive in the world.
