Wright Brothers is set to open a new seafood restaurant in Covent Garden this November, expanding its London restaurant portfolio with a venue celebrating British and European seafood and oysters.

Founded by Ben Wright and Robin Hancock, the family-run business has spent more than two decades developing its seafood restaurants and wholesale operations, supplying fish and shellfish to hospitality businesses across the UK.
The new restaurant will occupy a former tobacco factory at the junction of Great Queen Street and Drury Lane, bringing the group’s approach to seafood dining to the heart of London’s West End.
The menu will be overseen by Kevin Gratton, previously of Scott’s Mayfair and Samphire and Sage, with Head Chef Jaspal Flora joining from 45 Jermyn Street to lead the kitchen.
The food offering will combine British and European seafood with influences from Mediterranean cooking, drawing on Wright and Hancock’s travels along the coastlines of southern Europe.
Dishes will include butter-grilled oysters with black winter truffle, blue belly shrimps with citrus fruits and jalapeño, and winter leaf salad with bottarga, shaved pecorino and pine nuts.
Cuttlefish, a species sometimes referred to as ‘black gold’ by Brixham fishermen, will feature in a signature dish of ink-braised cuttlefish with sea aster.
Seafood platters will also form a central part of the menu, featuring whole Devon crab, Atlantic prawns, clams, mussels and whelks.
The restaurant will offer a selection of oysters sourced from the United Kingdom, Ireland and France, reflecting the produce that has been central to the Wright Brothers business since its establishment.
Desserts will include oyster gelato served with olive oil and caviar, introducing a seafood element to the final course.
The restaurant has been designed by PNW Studio, with interiors incorporating teal leather banquette seating, dark wood panelling, café curtains and mirrors.
The building’s historic columns will feature wooden fluted panels, while an ocean-blue scallop-tiled bar will provide a focal point at the rear of the dining room.
The bar will include a seafood display and high-counter seating, creating a dedicated space for customers wishing to enjoy oysters and other dishes.
Decorative elements will include large mural tiles hand-painted by Jonathan Waights and marine-inspired artwork by artist Dan Whiteson.
Wright Brothers was established in 2002 by Wright and Hancock, initially operating as oyster merchants before expanding into restaurants and wholesale seafood supply.
The company’s wholesale operation sources seafood from British and European coastal waters, supplying restaurants and chefs across the UK.
The Covent Garden opening represents a further development of the business, combining its established seafood sourcing operations with a new restaurant offering in central London.
Ben Wright and Robin Hancock said:
“Opening this beautiful site in one of London’s most vibrant locations is another step forward in a two-decade journey that began with a deep passion for oysters and seafood. Our mission is simple: exceptional produce, trusted relationships and a love for bringing people together for great seafood and good times.”
The new restaurant will operate from lunch through to late evening, offering a menu centred on seafood, oysters and seasonal ingredients.
