Malaysia Airlines has launched new direct services from Kuala Lumpur to Shenzhen and Changsha, strengthening its network across China.

The expansion reflects growing demand for travel between Malaysia and China, supported by economic partnerships and demand for both leisure and business travel.
China is Malaysia Airlines’ second largest international market by number of destinations.
The expansion began with the inaugural flight MH522 to Shenzhen departing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 on 1 July 2026 at 9.05pm local time.
The return service, flight MH523, departed Shenzhen for Kuala Lumpur at 2.45am local time on 2 July 2026.
Services to Changsha followed on 8 July 2026, with the inaugural flight MH520 departing Kuala Lumpur at 8.00pm local time.
The return service, flight MH521, departed Changsha for Kuala Lumpur at 2.05am local time on 9 July 2026.
Both routes operate up to seven times weekly using Boeing 737-8 aircraft, providing travellers with greater connectivity and flexibility between Malaysia and China.
Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Airline Business at Malaysia Aviation Group, said: “The launch of our services to Shenzhen and Changsha marks a proud milestone in our continuous efforts to expand our network across China.
“By connecting Kuala Lumpur to these high-growth regional hubs, we are offering travellers greater convenience and flexibility while supporting stronger business, tourism and people-to-people ties between our two countries.
“As we welcome more visitors under the Visit Malaysia 2026 banner, this expansion also brings us closer to our vision of positioning Kuala Lumpur as a premier gateway to Asia and beyond.”
The new services support Malaysia’s tourism ambitions by leveraging mutual visa-free arrangements between Malaysia and China.
They also reinforce Kuala Lumpur’s role as a regional aviation hub.
With the introduction of Shenzhen and Changsha, Malaysia Airlines now serves nine gateways across China.
These include Beijing Daxing, Shanghai Pudong, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Taipei and Chengdu.
To celebrate the new routes, Malaysia Airlines is offering UK passengers special introductory return fares from London Heathrow to Shenzhen or Changsha, starting from GBP 1,009++ for Economy Class per person.
The promotional fares are available for purchase until 20 July 2026, giving travellers the opportunity to plan future business or leisure trips between the UK, Malaysia and China.
