Independent wine bar group continues rapid expansion with new Smithfield site opening this June.

Independent wine bar and restaurant group Humble Grape has announced the opening of its seventh London venue, Humble Grape Smithfield, set to launch in the second week of June.

The opening comes just six months after the launch of Humble Grape Bow Lane, marking continued momentum for the fast-growing hospitality brand as it strengthens its presence across the capital.

Situated beside Smithfield Market, the new site places Humble Grape at the heart of one of London’s most historically significant and culturally evolving districts, with the highly anticipated Museum of London redevelopment also set to open nearby this year.

The venue will feature seating for 40 guests, with the flexibility to host private parties and events. A front semi-private dining area is also under consideration, while plans for an outdoor terrace are currently awaiting approval.

Humble Grape has built a reputation as London’s only wine bar group importing its own wines directly, offering a portfolio of more than 500 bottles sourced from 26 countries. The group specialises in organic, biodynamic and low-intervention wines from small, family-run vineyards around the world.

By importing directly, Humble Grape works closely with independent winemakers, allowing the team to share the stories, provenance and craftsmanship behind every bottle while keeping pricing accessible for guests.

Designed to make wine approachable rather than intimidating, Humble Grape’s service philosophy focuses on removing pretension from wine discovery. Staff are trained to guide guests towards wines they genuinely enjoy through relaxed, conversational recommendations tailored to every level of wine knowledge.

James Dawson, CEO of Humble Grape, said: “Smithfield feels like a natural next step for Humble Grape. It’s one of London’s most vibrant areas right now, rich in history, culture and character, and we’re thrilled to become part of that evolving community.”

Set to open in the second week of June 2026, Humble Grape Smithfield is preparing to mark its arrival with a launch celebration, with further details still under wraps. Adding to the anticipation, one lucky competition winner will receive a three-course dinner for four paired with wine, along with two tickets to an upcoming wine tasting event.
