ROMEO Napoli debuts first Alain Ducasse restaurant located in Italy.

The ROMEO Collection, an Italian luxury hospitality group with a strong international focus and a member of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World, is inaugurating the tenth floor of its Naples property, bringing to the heart of the Neapolitan city, just steps away from Piazza del Plebiscito, the region of Campania’s most spectacular infinity pool. Strategically positioned, the 120-square-meter pool offers an extraordinary view of the Mediterranean’s blue, Mount Vesuvius, and Capri. It’s an exclusive destination where guests can immerse themselves in the spirit and values of the Group.
With the intention of providing site-specific experiences that can amaze guests, the establishment becomes an aspirational destination where culture, wellness, and excellent gastronomy blend together, all interpreted by ROMEO Collection through the creativity of the multi-starred chef Alain Ducasse. Positioned on the ninth floor of ROMEO Napoli, the elegant restaurant of the French culinary master, introduced to Italy by the Collection, finds its place.
Always passionate about the Mediterranean, the chef draws inspiration from the extraordinary products of the region, including Paestum artichokes, Sorrento lemons, and locally caught red mullets, to craft a menu that blends Italian tradition—such as pasta and focaccia—with the experience gained in French cuisine. Executive Chef Alessandro Lucassino, who has a long-standing collaboration with Ducasse, personally interprets the exquisite local flavours. Using short cooking times, he preserves their nutritional integrity and enhances the tastes of the garden and the fish from the coast, remaining faithful to Ducasse’s philosophy of “naturalité” cuisine.
Lucassino has previously worked at the Plaza Athénée on Avenue Montaigne, another establishment owned by the chef. In 2011, Alain Ducasse offered him the chance to lead the Salon des Manufactures on rue des Petits Champs in Paris, where Lucassino showcased remarkable skills and creativity. Monsieur Ducasse recognized his talent and subsequently invited him to work at Cucina, his Italian restaurant in Paris. Each dish reflects the rich flavours of the Neapolitan region, where the Tyrrhenian Sea meets the Apennines, and the influence of Mount Vesuvius and the local winds are evident. Food preparations begin in the open kitchen and continue in the elegant dining room adorned with artworks, offering guests an exceptional experience of harmony and flavour. The cellar, boasting over 16,000 bottles carefully selected from 1,500 prestigious international labels, completes the dining experience.
The interventions concerning the last two levels of the Naples property, demonstrate ROMEO Collection’s commitment to continuing to offer the highest experience of contemporary luxury hospitality. Every detail is carefully considered, starting from the history and architecture of the building that houses the structure.
Facing the Molo Beverello, the hotel is situated within the building that once housed the offices of the Achille Lauro fleet. An iconic structure in Naples, thanks to the renovation overseen by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Kenzo Tange, it now stands as a prominent feature in the eclectic urban landscape of the city. The façade, redefined with a double skin of glass and steel featuring a subtly undulating design, evokes, through the hi-tech language of the Japanese designer, the aesthetics of a grand ship ready to set sail.
Inside, the communal areas and 79 suites reflect ROMEO Napoli’s vision of hospitality. The elegant and welcoming spaces showcase an exceptional attention to detail, made possible by the expertise of Italy’s finest craftsmen who have contributed to the interior design project, highlighting luxurious materials like marble, Macassar ebony, and other exquisite wood essences. The warm, rational, and contemporary atmospheres come alive with significant design pieces crafted by renowned Italian and international masters, complemented by a notable collection of artworks continually curated by the property.
The 17th-century paintings and Samurai armour from the Edo Period, the photographic works of the Alinari Brothers, landscapes by Mimmo Jodice, and paintings by Mark Konstabi, along with virtuoso interpretations of Mount Vesuvius by Mario Schifano and Andy Warhol, culminating in the monumental site-specific wall intervention by Transavanguardia master Francesco Clemente, enrich the stay of guests, providing them with a one-of-a-kind cultural experience.
ROMEO Collection’s wellness experience is also a standout feature, with the Naples hotel embracing the concept of an urban resort. The suites come equipped with cutting-edge Kinesis equipment from Technogym, and in some cases, are transformed into private spas complete with sauna and Turkish bath facilities.
Located within the former Salt Customs Office room of Naples, the over one-thousand-square-meter Sisley Paris Spa offers an immersive journey into the city’s history and well-being. It features Kneipp paths, three pools at various temperatures, an ice waterfall, a salt room, Finnish and infrared saunas, a hammam, and a gym spanning over 300 square meters, open 24 hours a day.
