IoH CEO Robert Richardson FIH MI has been appointed a Trustee of hospitality charity Room to Reward.
The charity that receives donated and unsold hotel rooms from hoteliers across the UK, provides them to charities and communities to give special ‘thank you reward’ breaks to the many volunteers who dedicate their time to helping others and who make a huge difference to people’s lives.
Robert Richardson FIH MI who joins Nic Roach (Chair), David Guile, Tim Nealon and Mark Lever on the Room to Reward board said: “I’m delighted to be joining Room to Reward as a Trustee and proud to be part of an industry that is as generous and giving as ours. The Institute has supported the charity for many years, and I have personally been involved with them since my days as a General Manager.
“The idea of encouraging hoteliers to sign up and put their unsold assets to good use is incredibly simple but has a resounding impact on so many lives” he said.
Adam Terpening FIH, Director of Room to Reward commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Robert to our team of Trustees. He’s been a fantastic supporter for many years and will be a wonderful asset to our development and growth. We are hugely grateful to the Institute of Hospitality as well for their continued and amazing support.”
Robert concluded: “I would encourage our IoH members to get involved, whether to nominate individuals who would benefit or as operators who can donate rooms. It all makes a difference.”
Since it began in 2015, approximately 800 hotels across the U.K. have joined Room to Reward, including the likes of Leonardo Hotels, Bespoke Hotels, The Clermont Hotel Group, Firmdale Hotels, The Savoy, The Dorchester, The Torridon and Watergate Bay. Collectively, these hotels have donated breaks to 2500 inspirational volunteers, nominated by over 800 charities.
