Green & Fortune’s ongoing focus on responsible business practices sees March as a headline month for the independent operator’s activities and outcomes.

Founded in 2008 by John Nugent, Green & Fortune continues to champion its role and responsibilities and the positive impact the business can have on its people and the wider communities it reaches.

Employing a team of 200 people, Green & Fortune brings together a diverse people-centric culture where development, recognition, and reward have led to high employee retention. Reinforcing its focus on being a conscientious employer, the company also plays an active role in the development of Kings Cross as well as working closely with Islington and Camden Councils to support wider employment and education initiatives.

In February the company made the second of its cost-of-living payments to support the team in the current cost of living crisis. Part of the continuing Green & Fortune Supports initiative, those earning less than £30k are set to benefit most. Additional payments of up to £600 per person have been made with a cost to the business in excess of £100,000 in November 2022 and February 2023.

March will also see its flagship restaurant, Rotunda, hit another milestone. Since the outbreak of Covid, the team have been preparing fresh and nourishing meals weekly to the local community via the Copenhagen Street Food Bank and the London Irish Centre. Over this time 12,000 meals have been donated and this continues today.

On 17th March, Green & Fortune will stage its annual charity fundraising event. The St Patrick’s Day celebration at Kings Place and Rotunda Bar and Restaurant is now in its fourth year and to date has raised more than £70,000 for charities.

This year they will again be supporting The London Irish Centre as well as Hospitality Action, and the Spirit of Hospitality Atlantic Row challenge which will see a 2-man crew rowing across the Atlantic in December 2023.  Both charities have a clear resonance with Green & Fortune; through John’s Irish heritage and the far-reaching support, advice and assistance Hospitality Action provides to the UK hospitality sector.

The St Patrick’s Day fundraiser will draw together almost 200 of the sector’s leaders and influencers in an informal atmosphere with great food and wine, feeding generous donations and auction prizes. The lunchtime event has already sold out. However, guests can join in the Irish festivities at Rotunda that evening and there are still a few tickets remaining.

John Nugent, Chief Executive at Green & Fortune, said: “People, whether that’s our team, guests, suppliers, or the communities we reach on a daily basis, are the backbone to our business. We’re focussed on supporting these individuals and when and where we can we look to help through education, employment or by charity outreach. This March is very much a culmination of our efforts and the onus we place on being a conscientious business.”
