By Majella Taylor, New Openings Editor: Gentlemen Baristas bring inclusive coffee training to Stratford.

The Gentlemen Baristas is opening a new state-of-the-art roastery and experience centre in Stratford this month to help meet growing demand for specialty coffee and quality training.
The aim of the site is to provide an inclusive environment for education and training, not only for the business but for the wider coffee community.
The site in Maryland Road, Stratford increases capacity being more than six times the size of the baristas’ former operation.
The site will also have a designated event space, a cupping room, SCA specked school, and UKBC standard practice area set to be available to budding baristas where Roosa Jalonen, Head of Production will continue to oversee sourcing, roasting and weekly cuppings.
With a focus on serving up some of the best specialty coffee in London, with the finest sustainably sourced beans from all around the world, sustainable initiatives include new recyclable and reusable bags, and a refill service for retail customers while coffee chaff, a by-product of roasting beans, will be used for biofuel.
Ed Parkes, Co-founder and Director, The Gentlemen Baristas says: “The roastery is the heartbeat of our business so we’re creating an all new accessible and engaging open house. Empowering people through education and training from farm to cup; this is a space for our team, friends, the coffee community and the general public.”
For The Gentlemen Baristas, customer service is about manners and inclusivity and the aim is to be upstanding, both behind the counter, and in the community, serving well-mannered coffee.
The Gentlemen Baristas since launch in 2014 now incorporates nine coffee houses in Piccadilly, Mayfair, Southwark, Borough, London Bridge, Holborn, Hammersmith, East India and Marble Arch.
