As the death toll from Covid-19 in the UK passes 70,000 we remember all of those people in hospitality within that group.
There is no data available that would point precisely to how many people in hospitality have died, but an estimate is quite simple.
The latest UK population figure is 67,886,011, and the best estimation of how many people work directly in hospitality is circa 3,000,000. If 4.5% of the population works in hospitality that equates to around 3,200 deaths in our industry.
So, today we remember those 3,200 hospitality people that have lost their lives to Covid-19.
Rest in Peace
