De Vere Selsdon Estate, part of the De Vere portfolio of country estate hotels and event destinations, has announced the appointment of Richard Clogg as General Manager to oversee the leisure and corporate business and day-to-day running of the hotel.
With more than 20 years’ experience, Richard brings with him in-depth knowledge of both the luxury hotel marketplace and hospitality industry. He joins the property from Park Plaza London Park Royal, where he was General Manager. Prior to that he held General Manager roles at the Park Plaza Hotels Europe Group and Radisson Hotel Group.
Laurie Nicol, Chief Operating Officer at De Vere, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Richard to the helm of De Vere Selsdon Estate. Richard has exceptional credentials and knowledge within the industry, and we know that he will provide strong and effective leadership to enable the estate to continue to deliver remarkable results. We’re looking forward to working alongside him in his new role.”

Richard Clogg commented: “I am thrilled to be joining the De Vere Selsdon Estate team. This move brings a new and exciting challenge for me.
“The property has an illustrious history, having been held by the Knights Templar in 1042AD and serving as Henry VIII’s palace of choice when secretly courting Anne Boleyn, and I’m honoured to become part of the latest chapter in its story.”
A recent multi-million-pound, top-to-toe refurbishment has transformed De Vere Selsdon Estate, restoring the Mansion House estate to its former glory. It is now home to luxurious interiors which combine classic, quirky British design and original features with 21st-century functionality, creating a relaxed, home-from-home atmosphere.
The renovation saw the opening of the new 1042 Restaurant & Bar, which serves a modern, British take on traditional brasserie classics; and renovations to its leisure club, glass Orangery, 18 flexible event spaces – including The Cedar Suite, with its sculptured ceilings and chandeliers – and luxurious bedrooms.
