InSinkErator – the world’s largest manufacturer of food waste disposers and a market leader in steaming hot water taps – have donated steaming hot water taps to New Hope and ONE YMCA, two of Watford’s leading charities tackling homelessness.
The 3N1 steaming hot water tap provides instant steaming hot water at the pull of a lever and has helped to modernise the kitchens of both New Hope and ONE YMCA, providing hot drinks to those currently finding themselves homeless in Watford.
New Hope Community Home support worker Barry Feaviour says:
‘With the kitchen in constant use by eight people, plus the staff and service users at the Community Market Garden, our kettles are constantly on. Having the new tap really saves on the life of the kettle; we’ve been through five in the last year.’
Annette Davis, manager of the New Hope Community Home, is thrilled with the convenience of the new kitchen facilities, particularly when the house can get so busy:
‘In the Community Home we use a cup of tea as a tool for support. The new tap here allows us to get on with the meaningful conversations quickly. Many of the discussions we have here are had in the kitchen over a hot drink.’
While making a cup of coffee, one New Hope resident said:
‘It’s the bee’s knees. It works perfectly and makes our day so much easier,’ while another said ‘I can make enough drinks for the whole house in one go. It’s so easy to make something really quickly.’
Catering manager of ONE YMCA, Alison Powell, adds:
‘The tap was installed just in time! Our hot water boiler broke down so with the tap we still had the means of supplying tea and coffee to our residents, without having to resort to boiling water on the stove which is not safe. Thank you for the tap. It was very kind of you and much appreciated.’
InSinkErator kindly donated and installed the hot tap units with the intention of enhancing the homely atmosphere of the hostels and improving the functionality of the kitchens.
Both New Hope and One YMCA were thrilled with the ease of installation which took place with minor disruption to the day to day running of the hostels. The space saving design takes up minimal space and its intuitive design is easy to use for residents and staff alike.
For hostels that help so many residents from Watford and across Hertfordshire each day, the convenience of the steaming water tap cannot be underestimated. With the kitchens in use by many residents and staff each day, the upgrade to the facilities is much appreciated, as a hot drink is key to the services offered by the charities.
