On 8 June 2018, Anton Edelmann will gather five of his most celebrated chef protégés to present a charity dinner at The Savoy in aid of DEBRA, the national charity supporting people suffering from the potentially fatal skin blistering condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
Anton Edelmann, who was maître chef de cuisines at The Savoy for over 20 years and mentor to many of London’s best chefs, will be joined by Mark Hix, Giorgio Locatelli, Jeff Galvin, William Curley and Holger Jackisch. Following a Champagne reception, together they will present an exclusive menu for 250 lucky guests at the DEBRA 40th Anniversary Celebrity Chefs Dinner. There will also be live music from the world-class modern pop band Jam Hot, and a charity auction on the night, with all money raised by the event helping to fight the life-limiting skin condition EB.
Mark Hix – celebrated chef, restaurateur and food writer (Sugar pit ox cheek and split green pea salad)
Giorgio Locatelli – TV presenter and founder of Michelin-starred (Locanda Locatelli Calamarata with samphire, monkfish, chilli and lemon)
Jeff Galvin – owner of Michelin-starred Galvin Restaurants in London (Breast of guinea fowl with broad beans, fresh morels and herb gnocchi)
William Curley – award winning patissier and chocolatier (Chocolate praline mille-feuille with orange yoghurt ice cream and orange compote)
Holger Jackisch – Executive Chef at The Savoy (Canapès and petits fours)
Speaking of the event, Anton Edelmann commented: “I have been supporting DEBRA for more than 15 years and I cannot think of a better place to celebrate their 40th anniversary than at The Savoy. All of these fantastic chefs have learnt part of their craft with me under the expert tutelage of the hotel and have since gone on to become leaders in the culinary field. This is a unique opportunity for people to support DEBRA whilst tasting the history of The Savoy!”
Last June, the DEBRA Butterfly Ball involved top chefs including Simon Young, Tom Kerridge and Ashley Palmer-Watts, and raised an impressive £60,000. This money contributed to a pioneering research project into a potential treatment of an aggressive, and ultimately fatal, form of skin cancer found in some types of EB.
This June, the DEBRA 40th Anniversary Celebrity Chefs Dinner will support the funding of a specialist EB nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Specialist nurses are crucial to EB sufferers and their families, and DEBRA provides vital funding to the service at the children’s hospital. The dinner will be a celebration of everything DEBRA have achieved so far, and money raised will help the charity in planning for the future.
