Sodexo strengthens team at Windsor Park with two new senior appointments

Catering, hospitality and event management specialists, Sodexo, have appointed Head Chef, Fritz Machala and Sales Manager, Chris Black to strengthen their operation at The National Football Stadium at Windsor Park, Belfast.

Fritz Machala, a forward-thinking Head Chef with over 25 years’ experience working in the catering and hospitality industry, has worked to Michelin Star & 3 AA Rosette standards, as well as establishing the award-winning Strudel Bistro voted ‘Best Casual Dining in Co. Down’ (2012).

Fritz Machala commented: “I’m delighted to be joining the Sodexo team at Windsor Park as their new Head Chef. With my extensive experience for producing first-class modern cuisine using local produce, this is a perfect fit for me and I’m very much looking forward to using the best of Belfast’s fresh and responsibly sourced local produce to create innovative new menus at the stadium.”

Chris Black, a seasoned sales and marketing professional with over 10 years’ experience, will also join the Sodexo team at Windsor Park, as Sales Manager. Having worked both in business and residential field sales, as well as successfully delivering strong results in a number of management roles, Chris will use these skills to secure new business opportunities for the venue.

Chris Black added: “I have gained a great deal of practical experience and industry insight in my previous positions and this new role will allow me to combine this knowledge and channel it into supporting the venue and its growth plans over the coming years.”

Sodexo provide food and beverage retail and hospitality services for all matchday and non-matchday events at the Belfast venue, as well as selling conference and event facilities through Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events.

Following redevelopment last year, the National Football Stadium has been enlarged to more than 18,000 seats and now has four main function suites overlooking the pitch, as well as 10 executive boxes, a museum, unique event spaces in the changing rooms, press room and players’ lounge – all of which are operated by Sodexo.

David Trotter, Divisional Director at Sodexo Sports & Leisure commented: “We have ambitious plans to drive new business to The National Football Stadium at Windsor Park, and these two new appointments will go a long way towards securing its status as a must-see venue.”
