Thirteen months after joining Chester Boyd, Sarah Pittaway has been appointed as Managing Director of a company that has an unrivalled reputation for serving fine dining in London’s historic square mile. From 1st March Sarah will oversee the seven London Livery Halls in the Chester Boyd portfolio, which have for more than 30 years created and served traditional British fine dining infused with contemporary flair. Her team also serves at The Guildhall – which has been the home to the City of London Corporation for 800 years.
Reporting to CH&Co joint CEO Alison Tyler, Sarah’s appointment recognises the impact she has made since joining over a year ago; her business management expertise; and her client relationship skills.
The creation of this post replicates the existing structure within other CH&Co businesses – and as Chester Boyd grows further this new role is designed to direct support up and down the management chain. Both Peter Martin, who moves within CH&Co to become the new Operations Manager, and Executive Chef Karen Poynter, who joined 15 years’ ago, will report directly to Sarah.
Before joining Chester Boyd, Sarah commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst serving with the Royal Corps of Signals in Germany, Cyprus and Afghanistan. Subsequently she was: Assistant Private Secretary to HRH The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester; Chief of Staff for Baroness Emma Nicholson at the House of Lords; worked at Ernst and Young LLP and was latterly CEO of The Wren Press.
Alison says: “Sarah and Chester Boyd fit hand in glove. She has earned this recognition through skill and hard work, and will enhance our commitment to serve the highest standards of food and service at Livery Halls. Sarah will lead our relationships with both the Livery Companies and our commercial customer base.”
Sarah says: “I want to take Chester Boyd to the next level; the Livery world with its grandeur and traditions are inspiring – as is the reputation of Chester Boyd. I am very lucky to have a great team of General Managers and Head Chefs who have all worked incredibly hard this year and given me their full support. I am really grateful and thank them wholeheartedly.”
Picking her highlight of 2014 Sarah chose what she describes as: “a fine dining breakfast at the Election of Sheriffs Breakfast Club held in West Smithfield at Haberdashers’ Hall in June”.
