Amadeus, one of the UK’s leading caterers, will need in excess of 1,000 employees over the next 12 months to help cater for hungry visitors, VIPs and staff at a number of upcoming high profile events. The roles are a mixture of permanent and temporary positions across the Midlands, Scotland and Surrey and includes a number of senior management appointments.
The positive news comes as the latest national figures show a drop in the growth of job vacancies within catering.
Amadeus has recently been awarded a number of contracts for high profile events such as the London 2012 Olympics and the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, along with the eleventh year of operation at The Barclays Scottish Open, are responsible for the employment drive.
The multi million £ contract to cater at Olympic Park North for the London 2012 Olympic Games results in employment for hundreds of workers in 2012, mostly taking temporary roles of up to six months but also includes senior Director and Deputy Director level appointments based between the companies Birmingham base and London.
The recruitment campaign will be especially beneficial to residents of the host boroughs of London 2012, with Amadeus committing to hire a percentage of the staff from the local area.
A three-year contract to cater for the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the UK’s second biggest flower show after RHS Chelsea, will see the creation of around 150 roles per season plus senior management roles while the Barclays Scottish Open Golf Championships at Castle Stuart, Inverness in July creates around 100 seasonal positions.
The news comes as a joint report by The Recruitment & Employment Confederation and KPMG showed the rise during May in both staff vacancies and temporary posts was at its weakest since 2010.
Alyson Cawley, Managing Director of Amadeus, said: “It is a very testing time for thousands of people who are currently seeking job opportunities and we are pleased to be creating new roles as the growth in the number of UK vacancies has slowed.
“Our recent success securing major new clients has created this growth and we look forward to sustaining this as our business continues to grow. It is a testament to the hard work of our existing team and the high quality product we provide.”
