Kimpton Virgilio, located in Mexico City’s dynamic Polanco neighborhood, announces the appointment of Alejandro Gallegos as General Manager. In his new role, Gallegos will oversee all aspects of Kimpton Virgilio’s operations, with a focus on strengthening the hotel’s positioning within Mexico City’s competitive luxury lifestyle segment while continuing to deliver thoughtful, design-led guest experiences. In addition, he will take on an expanded leadership role supporting the upcoming launch of Kimpton Castelar in Polanco, further reinforcing the brand’s growth in the market.

With more than three decades of international hospitality experience, Gallegos has led urban and resort properties across Mexico, Argentina, and Uruguay. His background spans hotel openings, repositionings, and operational leadership with a strong track record in elevating guest satisfaction and driving commercial performance.
Most recently, he served as General Manager of Hotel Alexander in Mexico City, where he led the successful launch of the luxury property, contributing to its recognition as a Michelin Key hotel. Prior to that, he held leadership roles with Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco & Spa in Uruguay and Grace Cafayate in Argentina, where he oversaw large-scale operations, guided high-performing teams, and consistently achieved strong guest satisfaction results.
Throughout his career, Gallegos has played a key role in the opening of seven hotels and the renovation of several others, including properties within the InterContinental portfolio. His expertise spans food and beverage strategy, commercial development, and operational planning, paired with a leadership style rooted in collaboration, innovation, and team engagement.
