For this month’s Image of The Month, I chose an image I shot on my last trip to Dave Pigram’s kitchen. We captured this after shooting the winning twitter poll recipe. Dave’s creativity never ceases to amaze me. The dish consists of smoked beetroot bubbles, which are then very carefully placed into nitrous liquid to be frozen, it’s an awesome sight. The bubbles are then … [Read more...]

The Garage and General Store re-opening
The Garage and General Store are both pretty close to Highbury & Islington Station, so very easy to get to if you are in London. From the station the buildings are on the left, there’s a quirky warm-up bar called The General Store, quite stylish like most of the guests. It’s an all-day café and bar serving fantastic cocktails and craft beers. It featured reclaimed gas … [Read more...]
Dartmouth House; When Romance Met Fashion
Dartmouth House is a Grade II listed Georgian mansion in the very heart of Mayfair, home to the English-Speaking Union since the 1920s. Converted from two houses in the late 1880s by Lord Revelstoke, Dartmouth House contains beautiful painted ceilings, glamorous and decedent crystal chandeliers and a sweeping marble staircase. It has style. The Bearded One and I were … [Read more...]
Readers’ Choice Recipe: simply tweet to see your selection published
I simply love my job. I love getting out and about meeting chefs, restauranteurs and a whole host of interesting hospitality and catering people. A big part of the pleasure is that I get to meet them at the source of our industry, preparing, cooking and serving food and drink. I also love to see where it all starts. I’m fascinated by the process of the chef thinking up a way … [Read more...]

For this month’s Image of The Month, I have featured an image that I captured whist working with my good friend Chef James Peck. James Peck has been Cheffing for 10 years and is now … [Read more...]
Bringing Sunshine to South Kensington
It’s written on the menu that Ceru was born from a love of food, drink and sunshine. We certainly felt that when we arrived. The walls were painted vibrant yellow and the interior inspired thoughts and memories of the Mediterranean. We arrived to a large table on entrance that was perfect for groups. There was certainly enough room to avoid the clashing of elbows while … [Read more...]

As we all know Spring is here so I wanted to convey this with my Image of the Month. Again collaborating with the fantastic Dave Pigram from the Harbour + Jones team. I love working with Dave. Fabulous bash at Balans Soho Society, Clapham
We arrived to a jam-packed venue and were shown to a little table bang in the middle of the hustle and bustle. The cocktail menu was impressive, it was a Pisco Sour for me and it didn’t disappoint! We started with The Cornish Crab and Croquettes. The Cornish Crab with pink grapefruit, squid ink crackers, avocado puree and wood sorrel was light and fresh with plenty of … [Read more...]
The London Eye Lounge Launch
I have always loved London, especially at night, so imagine my excitement when I was invited to The London Eye Lounge Launch. Arriving at the Riverside Rooms, then along a beautifully lit stairway to be greeted with a delicious glass of Pommery was the perfect start to a great evening. Under a sparkling chandelier, while chatting to many interesting people, I was then … [Read more...]
We attend, and we kid you not, the Fish Finger Sandwich Awards 2017
We must confess when we received our invitation to the Fish Finger Sandwich Awards, we thought someone was having a bit of fun, but no, they were real so we asked Majella to pop along and see what would unfold… Being a lover of Fish Fingers, I was actually and very excited to attend this event, really. I was looking forward to visiting The Tramshed also, great venue choice. … [Read more...]
Introducing Fraise Sauvage, AKA Terri Mercieca
It was sometime last year that I was introduced to Terri Mercieca through a mutual friend, with the thought of creating some tantalising images for her on a secret pitch she was doing. That secret pitch went well indeed and today Terri has her own spot in the food halls at Harrods. Terri has recently released her new range with spring in mind and invited me to a little … [Read more...]
Potter meets Chef, Majella’s Image of the Month
Whilst spending time on social media (and I do spend a great deal of my time on social media), about a month or so ago, I saw a beautiful bowl and I fell in love with it. After speaking with the potter Chris Bowen, I was determined to include this bowl for a collaboration, especially as it was unlike anything I had seen before. I’d met Dave Pigram at an experiential … [Read more...]
