Castle Hedingham Community Pub to Reopen Following £192,000 Refurbishment

July 16, 2026

The Wheatsheaf Inn in Castle Hedingham will officially reopen on Friday 17 July following a combined investment of £192,000 from licensee Greg Morgan and Admiral Taverns.

The refurbishment has brought a new lease of life to the popular community pub, elevating and modernising its overall look and feel.

The investment is designed to support Morgan in further establishing The Wheatsheaf Inn as a go-to community hub for local customers.

Inside, the pub has been refurbished with new fixtures and fittings throughout.

The games area now includes a new darts board, while the snug and bar areas have also been updated.

The pub also features two flatscreen televisions showing Sky and TNT Sports for customers to enjoy.

Externally, The Wheatsheaf Inn has been refreshed with new lighting and signage.

Two patio areas have also been updated, with seating available for around 80 people.

Morgan brings 20 years of hospitality experience to the pub.

Going forward, he is committed to creating a dog and family-friendly hub that brings people together and supports all aspects of community life.

Greg Morgan, licensee at The Wheatsheaf Inn, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled with the refurbishment — the transformation has been truly phenomenal. Every detail has been carefully considered to ensure that The Wheatsheaf Inn feels fresh and exciting, while still retaining the warmth and character that makes this place so special for the community.

“I am excited to be taking on The Wheatsheaf Inn and I would like to thank everyone, from our family and friends, to our customers and of course the team at Admiral Taverns, for all their ongoing support. I look forward to everything the future holds for this terrific community pub!”

The pub will host a schedule of regular entertainment for the community, including a weekly quiz night on Tuesday evenings from 8pm and live music on Friday and Saturday evenings.

As part of Morgan’s mission to give back to the local community, the pub will also support regular fundraising events and community initiatives in the future.

The Wheatsheaf Inn will offer a range of drinks including Guinness, Cruzcampo, Moretti and more.

The pub will also feature a wine menu supplied and supported by a local producer, cocktails made to order and a range of spirits to suit different palates and budgets.

The Wheatsheaf Inn is owned by Admiral Taverns, which operates around 1,365 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.

James McIver, Business Development Manager at Admiral Taverns, added: “It has been an absolute pleasure working alongside Greg throughout this refurbishment journey. Watching his vision come to life has been incredibly rewarding and his passion for the community has shone through.

“On behalf of myself and everyone at Admiral Taverns, I wish Greg and the entire team at The Wheatsheaf Inn the best of luck in the future.”
