Accent Catering Services has appointed Russell Yorston as Regional Director of Operations, with responsibility for the company’s portfolio of education and business and industry contracts across the Midlands and North.

In his new role, Yorston will oversee 22 contracts across the region, including independent and state school catering operations as well as Accent’s growing business and industry portfolio. He will lead a regional team comprising two operations managers, two support managers and two relief chefs.
Yorston joins Accent from Artizian Catering Services, where he served as Head of Operations. His previous experience includes senior operational positions with Olive Catering Services, CH&Co Group and Elior. Earlier in his career, he also held hospitality roles with Whitbread and Bespoke Hotels.
Commenting on his appointment, Yorston said: “As a medium-sized independent player, we have the advantage of being able to invest in the operational infrastructure so that clients feel supported and valued. This is a massive advantage. The quality of our food and our focus on people are also all part of the Accent story, and one which continues to attract and retain clients.”
A qualified practitioner in Insights Discovery Profiling, Yorston places particular emphasis on team development, training and career progression.
He added: “I am an advocate of training and career progression so working with Accent gives me every opportunity to lead through example, and to recognise all the hard work and loyalty within my teams. This focus on people runs through the entire business, beyond staff into client relationships.”
Looking ahead, Yorston believes there are opportunities for further growth across the region.
“Although early days, Yorston is confident that his current portfolio of clients will grow. “There is huge potential to grow the business further in the Midlands and beyond by attracting like-minded clients who appreciate a business where everyone has a name,” he said.”
Commenting on the appointment, Ian Crabtree, Managing Director of Accent Catering, said: “As an operationally-led business, we feel fortunate to have Russell on board. His attuned approach and his steadfast interest in the welfare of his teams and clients will undoubtedly impact positively within the region.”
The appointment further strengthens Accent Catering’s operational leadership team as the company continues to support its education and workplace catering clients across the UK.
