Now Open: Mayfair’s New Contemporary Japanese Dining Destination, MA/NA

May 6, 2026

MA/NA, a new luxury Japanese dining and drinking destination, has officially opened its doors in the heart of Mayfair. Born from the Japanese philosophy of ‘mana’, which teaches that every ingredient carries an invisible power, MA/NA takes guests on a journey from refined Japanese dining to an intimate late-night cocktail bar, where the atmosphere deepens and the night evolves.

The latest concept from Thesleff Group – the celebrated team behind Los Mochis, JUNO, LUNA Omakase and Sale e Pepe – MA/NA is set to become the defining address in London’s most coveted postcode, bringing together exceptional cuisine, cocktails, wine and sake, all under one beautifully designed roof.

Executive Chef Leo Tanyag delivers a menu that balances tradition and modernity, drawing from across Japan’s culinary landscape. Signature dishes include O-Toro Tartare with fatty Bluefin tuna, avocado, truffle soy, kaiware, tobiko, daikon, fresh wasabi, shallot and rice crisps; Avocado Aburi with grilled avocado, Japanese teriyaki mushrooms, spicy aioli, spring onion and sesame; and A5 Wagyu Ishiyaki, featuring tenderloin seared on a Himalayan stone with garlic ponzu and Asian leaves. MA/NA is one of a handful of restaurants in London officially certified to serve Kobe beef, which is selected only from the Tajima strain of Japanese Black cattle raised in Hyōgo Prefecture.

As dinner draws to a close, MA/NA evolves into a contemporary cocktail bar, inspired by the storied Japanese bartending tradition. The bar programme is led by Thesleff Group Bar Director Pietro Collina of The World’s 50 Best Bars’ Viajante87 (and formerly of Nomad, Side Hustle and Eleven Madison Park) showcasing refined technique, rare spirits, and a distinct 1970s Tokyo soul. Focusing on three pillars of precision, rhythm and heat, signature serves include the Noble Martini, Grey Goose Altius Vodka, Dry Vermouth, Château d’Yquem, Lemon Twist; Goya Sour, Haku Vodka, Yuntaku Japanese Amaro, Pineapple, Peach, Passion Fruit; and Bamboo Piña Colada, Bacardi Ocho, Pineapple, Charred Coconut Cream, Panda, as resident DJs guide the shift in energy into the late night.
